Short CV:
He holds a PhD in Communication and a master degree in Musicology. Currently, he is interested in studying music in society, particularly the issues on value, gender, and periphery. He is both a CNPq and Faperj research fellow, and was the editor of the scientific journal E-Compós (2009-2013) and vice-president of the Latin American section of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM-AL).

Research Project
In the last few years, we have observed the media emergence of musical practises related to the “peripheral “ universe. This research aims to investigate how mass peripheral music constructs and stresses a shared imaginary on the”popular” universe.  The main hypothesis is that peripheral music penetrate social boundaries, but still is  pervaded with stereotypes, thus reinforcing the notion of the Popular as inferior in value scales.
